[preparing journal entries]When living in Japan, I noticed that the women in my family wrote letters when they needed to confront or sit with an emotion. My Obaachan is handwriting as a human. As handwriting becomes a form of love language, mundane everyday moments transcend into a larger narrative of what shapes our lives: family and friends, politics, and love. Writing with direct honesty that rebels against linguistic barriers, 44’s work seeks to deepen our mutual intimacy, vulnerability, and empathy.
I took a gap year before my final year at Pratt. In the fall, my dad came close to losing to his health more than once. This seeded critical feelings in me. Gratitude and spiteful views on Medicaid, Healthfirst. Life quickly became about Insurance prices, priority, and that’s a space for heavy improvement in the US. Notes App is the modern space for quick thoughts, vulnerable notes, employing as people’s digital diary in the year 2025.
I wanted my show to be about sharing those thoughts, as i displayed my own phsyical journals of the past year for visitors to read.
